What Bhutan Taught Me About Happiness

I travelled to Bhutan searching for happiness, but what I found there taught me something entirely different. Bhutan is often described as a place of deep spirituality, of balance, of Gross National Happiness. Yet only when you stand there yourself, surrounded by prayer flags, incense and mountains, do you begin to understand what this country truly means.

I visited temples that feel older than time. I walked through dzongs that breathe history with every stone. I spoke with monks who say more in a few calm sentences than many books ever could. And high above Tiger’s Nest, I shared a moment I will never forget, together with masked dancers whose movements tell stories beyond language.

True happiness is never loud. It happens quietly, in small moments, in the unexpected, in letting go of expectations. In the end, I was not searching for happiness, I was recognising that it had been with me all along.

This is my film from Bhutan. A place that changed me. A country that gives far more than anyone could ever ask for.
